Losing Ancient Heritage

Oh! Mon:
You are Mon by birth in red thick blood;
The language from your mother's womb is unspoken;
Your sweet voice of Mon is disappearing
In the land of Hongsã.
You are so proud of your life arriving in foreign land,
And forget your own culture.

You have luxurious houses, cars and everything;
And turn your face and back away,
You forget your own identity and nation;
Neglect your mother tongue and speak foreign language;
Your tradition and religious heritage are forgotten.
Does the Mon have to be ruined?

Nowadays No one maintains our heritage
That had been valued by our ancestors;
The heritage which was valued and maintained
In the past is forgotten today;
We're so sorry for losing our ancient heritage.

Being a golden Hongsã, Difficult to fly?

A golden Hongsã seeks for a good shelter
For his own nation without having a rest;
The people of Hongsã pay a tribute to him
To be more glorious and good looking;
He gets his wings gilded.

With the golden feathers of wings
And the honourable amazing
He becomes a golden swan,
But he can not fly because his wings
Are laden with heavy gold;
If he walks on foot, he will be mocked.

The summer flowers

We our young pupils,
Study with an earnest will for knowledge.

In spite of the hot summer,
The flowers of literature bravely bloom.

With the united strength,
We can demolish the Mount Meru (Mt Sinnaraj),
And can make it into dust and ash.

Unify the tens into the one;
Stand together and march towards a land of Hongsã.

Always bear in mind that
United we stand and divided we fall.

One yoke of load for the teachers,
The another load for the pupils;
Let's carry the burden of education.

Co-operate with the union spirit;
And hold on until we reach our ultimate goal.

What Nationalism truly is

By speaking Mon alone,
You are not enough to be recognized as a patriot.

By being able to write Mon only,
You are not enough to be acknowledged as a patriot.

Even you maintain your culture
And know its value,
You are not enough to be a nationalist.

In order to keep your nation alive,
Only when you bravely stand and fight
Without giving up;
You are worthy enough to be remarked as a true nationalist.

To be able to live in the golden palace

On 1st waning of Maig (February) is
A Mon national day, the day of building
The land of Hongsãvatoi,
Mon was firstly known in the history,
Monk community maintained heritage;
Their blood had been shed
Mon land was pleasant and prosperous.

Once the golden Hongsã was glorious
And received the title of Mon, the great nation,
Patriotic heroes fought all the enemies came;
Mon of the olden time was blooming.

Rãjãdhiraj, a king of Hongsãvatoi,
Had an indomitable spirit,
He deserved to possess the heritage
And guarded his nation;
Paved his blood and life to defeat enemies
He became the martyr of Mon country.

Now a days Mon of all regions
Neither have diligence nor discussion,
One's own land was taken away by other;
People of villages, oftowns are being improperly ruled.

Oh! Mon let's wakke up now,
The blood of slave must be tpat out
And swallow the blood of our king;
Go forward with the brave steps to protect our nation
Before it gets ruined;
Let's try to be able to live in the golde palace.

It was known in history that
Mon could not stand not to react to the injustice,
King Rajãdhiraj had a fighting spirit, protected his country;
And held sword and spear to fight the enemies;
His glory can be read and seen in the history.

Lagon Een, the Mon hero, spat out the cowardly blood
And swallowed the true blood;
His life was given in the protection of his nation.
Bannyadharam, the Mon skilled knight, freed from fear;
Guarded his land, followed his brave steps to fight the enemies.

The Mon of ancient time were united;
They stood hand in hand in the work of serving nation.
There were many Mon heroes appeared in the past
Mon people were rapture and prosperous.

The Mon of nowadays are split up into disorder
Like the water hyacinth floating in the whirl pool;
Some are right and some are wrong,
And losing their ways but still smiling.

Hi Mon of today, don't be careless;
And please be serious, attempt to rebuild our old land.
Speak the same words with the same meanings,
With our love and compassion, be kind to one another
Like we have one mother;
And be united like our ancient Mon.
